We work directly with farmers across Africa to source exceptional single-estate Arabica and Robusta. Every lot is traceable, every harvest is limited, and every farmer is named.
Africa is where coffee originates. Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya — the continent produces Arabica and Robusta of extraordinary character, grown at altitude on volcanic soils with conditions that can't be replicated anywhere else.
The problem has never been the quality. It's been visibility. For too long, this coffee has been exported in bulk with no farm name, no farmer, no story. Blended away into anonymous bags. The people who grow it never knowing where it ends up.
Prime Origin Africa is our attempt to change that — one direct relationship, one named harvest at a time.
Every bag traces to one specific farm — not a regional blend, not a cooperative lot. One estate, one harvest, one story.
We deal directly with the farmer. No exporters between us. The farmer knows who buys their coffee — and earns a fair price for it.
When this lot is gone, it's gone. Every release is a fixed quantity from a single season — like a wine vintage, never repeated exactly.
Every step is intentional. Every step is documented. You can trace this coffee from the soil it grew in to the cup you're holding.
A named individual with generations of knowledge
A specific estate, a specific altitude, a specific soil
Hand-picked at peak ripeness, one season at a time
Washed or naturally processed — by hand, with care
Small-batch, to honour what the farm created
A complete story. A real place. A real person's work.

Enquire About This HarvestBuilt from lived experience. Rooted in Africa.
Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya — the continent grows Arabica and Robusta at altitude, on volcanic soils, in conditions that produce remarkable depth and complexity. The quality has always been there.
The problem is how it's been traded. For decades, African coffee has been exported in bulk — unnamed, untraced, blended into commodity shipments. Farmers earn a fraction of what their work is worth. Buyers get no story. Consumers get no connection.
Prime Origin Africa is built on the belief that this can be done better. Directly. Transparently. With the farmer at the centre of everything.
I grew up in Uganda surrounded by coffee — including on our own family's farm. I knew what a harvest felt like from the inside: the work, the knowledge, the care that went into it.
Moving to Europe, I started seeing that same coffee from a different angle. Specialty cafés, premium pricing, beautiful design. But the farmers I knew back home weren't seeing any of that value. They were selling into a long chain that stripped out almost everything except the bean itself.
That gap is what Prime Origin Africa is built to close. Not in a small, symbolic way — but through real, direct partnerships that change the economics for the people doing the actual work.
Founder, Prime Origin Africa
Coffee was part of my life before I understood what it was worth. Growing up in Uganda, our family had land. I saw the harvest seasons, I knew the farmers, I understood the effort involved long before I understood the economics.
It wasn't until I moved to Germany that the gap became clear. The coffee being sold in European specialty shops for premium prices had no names attached to it — no farm, no farmer, no origin story. Just a region on a label. The people who actually grew it remained invisible.
Prime Origin Africa is my attempt to fix that. We build direct relationships with farmers and estates, we give every lot a proper identity, and we connect African coffee with buyers who genuinely care about where it comes from. The farm you see in these photos is real. The family behind it is mine.
These are the actual fields — the family farm in Uganda where this all started. The same trees, the same soil, the same people who have worked this land for generations.
We believe in showing the real thing rather than describing it.
Always, without exception
Every batch traced to a specific farm, farmer and harvest season. Nothing anonymous.
We buy directly from the farmer. No agents, no exporters in between. The farmer earns fairly.
We only sell what we can personally account for. Quality over volume, every time.
Farmers are named and credited. Their craft and heritage are always acknowledged.
"The farm's story should travel with every cup — all the way to the person drinking it."— John Mark Lubwama, Founder
Single-estate Arabica and Robusta. Limited harvest. Fully traceable.
We present each harvest like a winery presents a vintage. Every lot has its own identity — its own farm, its own farmer, its own unrepeatable character. Read the passport. Then decide.
Dark chocolate, caramel sweetness, a clean citrus finish. Structured and satisfying with real depth.
Rich dark chocolate, deep caramel, stone fruit undertones. Full body with a long, warm finish.
Red berry, delicate floral notes, silky body. Elegant and clean with a lasting sweetness.
"We present coffee the way a winery presents its vintages. Because that's exactly what it deserves."— Prime Origin Africa
The people whose hands grow every lot we sell.
This page will grow properly — with portraits, personal stories, farm histories and the kind of detail that actually tells you something meaningful about where the coffee came from.
We're building these profiles carefully. Real content takes time, and we'd rather do it right than fill pages with placeholder text. As each relationship deepens, the full profile goes up.
The principles that guide every decision we make.
These aren't marketing principles. They're what we actually believe — and they shape everything from which farms we partner with to how we present each harvest.
No roasting process can fix what goes wrong in the field. Quality is determined long before the beans reach a roastery. We start at the source and stay closely involved throughout.
We're not buyers who move on when prices shift. We're partners — invested in the long term, in the land, in the farmer's ability to plan ahead and build something sustainable.
The same farm produces different coffee in different years. Rainfall, temperature, timing — these things vary. We don't try to smooth that out. We present each harvest honestly, for what it is.
We tell buyers exactly where their coffee comes from, who grew it, and how. If we don't know something yet, we say so. No vague origin claims. No invented statistics.
We care about the whole chain — how cherries are picked, how they're processed, how they travel, how they're roasted. Every step either builds on or wastes what the farmer created.
This isn't idealism — it's practical. When a farmer is paid fairly and treated as a craftsperson, they invest more in their work. Pride and dignity produce better harvests. That shows up in the cup.
Prime Origin Africa isn't built for quick returns. It's built to last — to create a sustainable, transparent route from some of Africa's finest farms to buyers who genuinely value what they're getting.
We measure progress not in volume shipped, but in the quality of the relationships we build and the difference we make to the people growing the coffee.
Every step is intentional. Every step is traceable.
A named individual with a family history in coffee. The origin of everything.
A specific estate at altitude. Volcanic soil, clean water, mountain air.
Hand-picked at peak ripeness. One season, never replicated exactly.
Washed or naturally dried — carefully, to preserve the origin character.
Small-batch, to honour what the farm created. No shortcuts taken.
A complete story. A specific place. A real person's craftsmanship.
"Every cup of coffee should carry the name of the person who grew it."— Prime Origin Africa
Better relationships. Better livelihoods. Better coffee.
Numbers can be inflated. Relationships can't. We don't lead with statistics because we think they often obscure what actually matters: the quality of the connection between a farmer and the company sourcing their crop.
When that connection is real — when a farmer knows who's buying their coffee, when they're paid a fair price, when their name is on the lot — something changes. The care they invest in the harvest changes. The pride they take in the craft changes. That's the impact we're building toward, one relationship at a time.
We pay above market price, always. A fair return for exceptional work is the starting point, not a bonus.
Farmers know who buys their coffee. That recognition matters as much as the price.
We support practices that protect the land for the next generation — the same land that will produce the next harvest.
African coffee knowledge is generational. We work to document it and make sure it isn't lost.
Short-term transactions serve no one well. We're building long-term partnerships — where farmers can plan ahead, reinvest in their land, and pass a thriving business on to their children.
The fields in these photographs will yield the harvests of 2026, 2027 and beyond. We intend to be there for every one of them.
